MettleCI does not require Jira (or indeed any other work item management tool) to be available at all. The MettleCI Workbench Git Check-in interface provides a convenient mechanism for searching one or more work item management systems for appropriate story/ticket ID's which are then injected into the Git commit message so commits can be easily traced to the requirement which sponsored it. In the absence of a work item management system these reference are simply omitted.
