Getting Started with MettleCI Workbench

Accessing the Workbench

To access the Workbench, open a web browser and enter the URL http://hostname:8080/ where hostname is the DNS name or IP address of your development environment's DataStage engine.  This takes you to the MettleCI login page:

Login to the Workbench using your DataStage username and password.  The first time you login to Workbench you will be prompted to register your Information Server account with MettleCI Workbench.

Registering a Workbench User

If you have not logged into Workbench before, and your email address is not registered in Information Server, then a one-time request for your email address is performed before you are allowed to log in to Workbench. Your email address is required to correctly associated your user account with the Git commits you’ll initiate from Workbench (documentation).

If your email is already recorded in Information Server then they will not be prompted and will be taken to the Workbench homepage.

The Workbench Home Page

When connecting via the generic Workbench URL (i.e. https://MyServicesTier.MyOrg.com:59445, and not from a DataStage Designer integrated menu item) you are taken to a list of DataStage projects to which they have relevant access permissions. This page describes, for each project, the currently configured Git repository name and branch, the Compliance Rule repository, and the name of a work item service configuration which will be used by the user to link work itmes to Git commits. From here you start by selecting the name of the project you wish to work with.
